The Department of commerce was established in the year 2005 with an intake of 58 students with five faculty members. From the year 2005 there has been consistency in the Academic performance of the students. From the Academic year 2009-10 one more section was added and the present strength of the department is nearing 700.The department has produced a good number of quality professionals who are well-placed in important positions in the industry in India and abroad.


The college welcomes the average students and the strength of the department lies in training such students to excel in Academics and other co-curricular activities. The department has to its credit of having produced 47 brilliant students who had secured a 100% marks in various subjects and Two University Ranks in the Academic Year 2018-19


The Department of Commerce has initiated several innovative practices for student development. This includes “CAMARADARIE”, the commerce club, to encourage students to showcase their talents and help them to develop the overall personality.  It organizes guest lectures, workshops and conducts add on programs to expose the students to various aspects outside the ambit of academics.


Inter class competitions are conducted on various commerce events like Mad ads, Product Launch, Mock Stock, Best Manager etc. to identify the talented students who can participate in the Inter collegiate fest hosted by other colleges in the city. The department hosts Intercollegiate Commerce Seminars to encourage students to develop their overall caliber in Academics and managerial skills. The department has been successful in conducting inter collegiate fest for four consecutive years.

Special programmes are organized by the Department for the final year students on career guidance to develop their interview skills.
